Dubai Health Authority first in UAE has integrated clinical decision support resource UpToDate with EMR

This integration of the Wolters Kluwer’s clinical decision support (CDS) resource, UpToDate with an electronic medical record (EMR)  will allow pharmaceutical specialists from 18 Dubai Health Authority ‘to make evidence-based clinical decisions for their patients and keep their medical knowledge up to date in a more seamless way’, the Albawaba has informed

As the Healthcare IT News has announcedthe UpToDate CME platform is accredited by DHA and enables clinicians to gain CME credits while applying their learning from UpToDate searches during clinical practice.


“Up TODate is  a resource for medical education and daily practices, healthcare professionals can be accessed through the library platform and smart devices at the point of care for all DHA . DHA’s Medical Education and Research Department Director, Wadeia Sharief saidShe also said that “Integrating UpToDate into Salama showed light after great efforts from the library and Salama team to obtain and gain return on investment in patient care.”


 Walters Kluwer mentioned that " Over 100 independent studies evidence the benefit to patients, clinical teams and healthcare systems in terms of improving length of stay, efficiency and patient outcomes, and reducing error rates and healthcare costs". It also mentions that UpToDate is being used by over 1.9 million clinicians around the world, and Its the only clinical decision support resource associated with improved patient outcomes and hospital performance .

As previously it being published by the International Journal of Medical Informatics In 2018 and released on UptoDate resource“physicians who used UpToDate had a significantly lower rate of diagnostic errors compared with a control group without UpToDate (2 percent versus 24 percent).
