Time & date: 12 August 2020. 11:00 GMT+4

Webinar overview:

الساعة التاسعة صباحا بتوقيت القاهرة

It is widely acknowledged that current smokers face significant challenges in quitting smoking that is attributed to nicotine’s potent effects. In this webinar, you will learn about how to identify the level of dependence and how to assess attitudes toward cessation.
Community pharmacists can support patients’ attempts to quit smoking, and this webinar is the first step toward being a smoking-cessation treatment specialist. Finally, we will share the results of our research among community pharmacists in the UAE; we have assessed their knowledge and skills. We identified opportunities to expand the delivery of smoking cessation support, and we will provide a snapshot of the most relevant results.

Goals of this webinar are:

In this creative webinar, you will learn about the role of the pharmacist in smoking cessation. We will share tools and strategies that would help pharmacists to support people who want to quit smoking. Tobacco use among adults and adolescents remains prevalent. Many smokers wish to stop, but several cessation attempts are usually necessary to overcome tobacco use. You will learn how community pharmacists should assess the patient’s readiness to quit before initiating pharmacotherapy. In this webinar, we will talk about behavioral interventions to be utilized in the patient who is not ready to stop, and these should be coupled with an appropriate pharmacotherapy selection once the patient is ready to quit. Community pharmacists are well-positioned to offer smoking-cessation services, given their frequent contact with patients.
