The World Health Organization (WHO) defines pharmacovigilance as “the science and activities relating to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other possible drug-related problems”.  When medicines are released for wide use by the public, the use of these medicines should be monitored for their ongoing effectiveness and safety, and the pharmacist should play a central role in this through application of the practice of pharmaceutical care and medicines management. This surveillance role should be a main professional role of the pharmacist.
This second seminar with Dr Nadir Kheir will focus on the role of the pharmacist in reporting adverse drug reactions as part of pharmacovigilance services ad initiatives.
