The World Health Organization (WHO) defines pharmacovigilance as “the science and activities relating to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other possible drug-related problems”. When medicines are released for wide use by the public, the use of these medicines should be monitored for their ongoing effectiveness and safety, and the pharmacist should play a central role in this through application of the practice of pharmaceutical care and medicines management. This surveillance role should be a main professional role of the pharmacist.
During this webinar we will understand the pharmacovigilance, and the role that pharmacists which could play in the application of pharmacovigilance in their practice.
