We invite physicians, clinical pharmacists and pharmacists to the What are the underlying mechanisms of headache caused by COVID19 and what are medications webinar
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by a novel coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2, was initially characterized by respiratory system manifestations. Yet, manifestations of the nervous system such as headache, dizziness, anosmia, ageusia, and loss of appetite have been recognized during the COVID-19 pandemic. SARS-CoV-2 uses the transmembrane ACE2 receptor to enter the mammalian host cells. The ACE2 receptor was detected in various cells in humans including the airway lung epithelial cells, vascular endothelial, pericytes, and smooth muscle cells, and neuronal cells in the trigeminal ganglia, olfactory bulb, and other cortical and subcortical areas.
During this webinar with Dr Talar Ahmad we will explain the following the pathophysiology of CNS involvement with SARS-CoV-2 , postulated indirect mechanisms of brain involvement, mechanisms of SARS‐COV‐2 neuro-invasion, possible pathophysiological mechanisms of headache associated with COVID-19, pathophysiological role of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) in COVID-19 (COVID-19 is a real headache), post-COVID-19 neurological syndrome (PCNS) indicates prolonged post-COVID-19 neurological symptoms .
