Obesity and metabolic syndrome are becoming increasingly prevalent in most populations. Metabolic syndrome increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, hormone disorders and mental health problems. It is extremely important to diagnose and intervene in metabolic disorder at an early stage, thus reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, stroke, and many others. Diagnosis is based on clinical investigation, combined with some measurements and blood tests. Novel medical technologies, such as visualisation of body composition and visceral fat diagnosis of TOFI (thin outside, fat inside) are also used in lifestyle medicine practice.
During this webinar with Dr Caroline Gibson and Dr Adam Smith we will discuss how to incorporate this evidence-base into everyday clinical practice, including an introduction to developing individual Lifestyle medicine intervention programmes and coaching to achieve patients’ desired health results.
