Webinar overview:
Shifting Practice:
From Dispensing Pills to Providing Patient-Centered Care
The practice of pharmacy has been in a state of evolution and change throughout the past few
decades in all the world. The increase of the number of new medications and as a result an
accompanying increase in the problems associated with medicines, the huge cost of medical
care, and a demanding health care environment forced pharmacists and pharmacy leaders,
academics, and researchers to look for new roles for the pharmacist in this turbulent world we
are part of. However, despite the obvious need for a ‘new’ pharmacy practitioner, a significant
number of pharmacists still embrace a product-centered approach in their daily practice.
Community pharmacy, in particular, suffers the most of this state of stagnation.
