Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and there remains a clear and unmet need for the identification of new therapeutic targets for CVD. Genetic contributions have a strong role in disease pathogenesis. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk assessment is an important strategy for the prevention of CVD. Pharmacists play an important role in CVD risk assessment and management.



Objective of this training

is to demonstrate the importance of briefly understanding CVD (pathophysiological mechanisms, pharmacotherapy interventions, therapeutic drug monitoring subjective and objective data, clinical cases in order to design strategies to improve patient outcomes.

Heart Failure

  1. Heart failure/ Terminology
  2. Neurohormonal activation and progression of heart failure
  3. Factors involved in the cause and association with an outcome of changes in renal function in heart failure
  4. Pathophysiological mechanisms of heart failure & major sites of drug action
  5. Pathophysiology of HFrEF/ Existing pharmacologic targets for HFrEF
  6. Treatment of Non-cardiovascular comorbidities including depression and diabetics in HF
