Support smoking cessation in your daily-practice with smoking cessation workshop.
This training workshop is designed for healthcare professionals of all levels who currently support patients in smoking cessation or who would like to develop smoking cessation initiatives in own-practice. The workshop is suitable for HCPs working in primary, secondary, and public health as well as community pharmacy.
This interactive online program, led by experienced clinical facilitators, will allow you to update your knowledge and skills to provide high-quality advice and support to potential quitters. The program is divided into two special webinars dedicated to:
1.Deliberating on the importance of quitting smoking
2.Identifying the Impact of Health-Care Providers on facilitating smoking cessation
3.Physiological effects of tobacco
4.Discussing ways to support behavioural change
5.Applying learning in practice and overcoming barriers to change.
6.Devising pharmacological options available to patients
7.Individualizing patient smoking behavioural management and pharmacologic therapy
8.Identifying systems management approaches that will improve success of a smoking cessation program.
These webinars are highly interactive, with mutual dialogue and collaborative learning opportunities, and discussions will focus on meeting participants' needs and desired outcomes. The day ends with developing a personal action plan to support improving the smoking cessation environment in individual practice.
Healthcare professionals (HCPs),
By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
1.Explain why it is so important to quit smoking
2.Use strategies to support behaviour change
3.Make brief clinical interventions for the following: those who are willing to quit, those who are unwilling to quit at the time of the discussion, and smokers who have already quit.
4.Intervene for those willing to quit to effectively with the “Five A's”
5.Apply the Transtheoretical Model of Behavioral Change on effectively managing smokers depending on their stage within the model
6.Support former smokers through various strategies and through follow up
7.Deploy effective communication strategies with the support of potential quitters
8.Support patients in setting SMART goals
